I picked up my most recently purchased book on meditation this morning. I've been starting the day with meditation, but realized I was avoiding the act of sitting by reading about sitting after the chapter I'm on, oddly, had to do with the same content as above.

As Dan Allender writes in The Healing Path, "Our spiritual journey must lead through the desert or else our healing will be the product of our own will and wisdom. It is in the silence of the desert that we hear our dependence on noise. It is in the poverty of the desert that we see clearly our attachments to the trinkets and baubles we cling to for security and pleasure. The desert shatters the soul's arrogance and leaves the body and soul crying out in thirst and hunger."

Guess I'll settle onto that pillow for some very elementary breath work with Mal Huxter. I don't think I can stand anything more today.

Baby steps really suck!
