Sponsored by One Dharma Nashville
Saturday, December 4, 2010, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Please join us in a beautiful rural setting for a day of sitting and walking meditation. We will cultivate insight and lovingkindness through awakening our minds to the present moment.
This day long silent retreat will focus on mindfulness meditation. We will train our minds in present time awareness by bringing attention to the breath and sensations in the body, cultivating awareness of the pleasant and unpleasant states that arise. Through this practice we gradually understand the truth of the constantly changing nature of all things, and we learn to respond with compassion and friendliness to all that arises.
Led by One Dharma founder and meditation teacher Lisa Ernst, the retreat is suitable for both beginning and experienced meditators; it will include sitting and walking meditation, practice instructions, optional private interview and a dharma talk. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Please bring your own meditation cushion if you have one and two blankets or a zabuton. If you don’t have a cushion, we will have a few extras. Please let us know if you need one. Chairs are also available.
Cost: $25, plus dana to the teacher. Scholarships are available. A deposit of $25 is due by Monday, November 29. You may bring your deposit to the center during one of our meditation sessions, or mail a check made out to One Dharma Nashville to: 12South Dharma Center c/o One Dharma Nashville, 2301 12th Ave. South, Suite 202, Nashville, TN 37204. Please include your email address. The location of this retreat, in west Bellevue, is about 25 minutes from downtown Nashville. Directions to the retreat site and additional information will be emailed prior to the retreat. For questions, please contact onedharmaretreat@gmail.com.
I am interested in attending the Mindfulness retreat but utilize a chair with lumbar support.
I note that “chairs are available.” Can you tell me if the chairs are folding chairs with no lumbar support or padded table chairs with lumbar support.
Thank you, sharon
Hi, Sharon. Our retreat leader, Lisa Ernst, is currently out of pocket and isn’t sure off the top of her head. She won’t be able to find out until next week but then she’ll let you know. Sorry not to be able tell you right away.
Hi Sharon, I just got an answer to your question. First, if you would like to attend the retreat and can bring your chair with lumbar support, feel free to. Otherwise, there will be chairs available onsite that have cushioned seats and wicker backs. A folded blanket could be added for more back support. People who have attended past retreats and used them for sitting have found them comfortable.
